New Portland Walmart to Sport Ecoroof

Walmart announced Tuesday that its new store in the Hayden Meadows Retail Center in North Portland will feature a 40,600-square-foot ecoroof. Walmart will work with Philadelphia-based Roofmeadow to design the ecoroof. Roofmeadow designed the companies only other ecoroof in the U.S. on a store in Chicago. The installation would be one of Portland’s largest green roofs and would contribute toward the city of Portland’s stated goal of having 43 acres of new ecoroofs installed by 2013. Walmart announced that the ecoroof will feature perennial plant sedum along with cascading ground cover and some taller native plants that would be visible from Interstate 5 and Hayden Meadows Drive.
