A new Walmart Neighborhood Market store will open in the Gateway Mall in Springfield, bringing new jobs and more affordable grocery options to the community. The 39,000 sq. foot store will employ approximately 65 associates. The Springfield Walmart Neighborhood Market will offer a quick and convenient shopping experience for customers who need groceries, pharmaceuticals and general merchandise all at everyday low prices.
Opportunity. Walmart Neighborhood Markets are small-format stores that often repurpose vacant properties, adding value to their neighborhoods. The first Walmart Neighborhood Market opened in 1998, and today there are approximately 250 stores nationwide.
Fresh Foods and Affordable Brands. Designed as a convenient family shopping center, Walmart Neighborhood Markets offer shoppers access to fresh, locally-sourced grocery items alongside merchandise at everyday low prices. The stores offer quick and convenient shopping for groceries, pharmacy items and general merchandise, and generally range in size from 25,000 square feet to 40,000 square feet.
Redevelopment. Walmart Neighborhood Markets renovate vacant buildings with contemporary design upgrades to the exterior and use energy efficient technologies throughout. Elements such as white roofs, high-efficiency heating and cooling, low-energy grocery case LED lighting and recycled construction products are standard features in a new Neighborhood Market.

Walmart and the Walmart Foundation have contributed more than $5.3 million in Oregon in the past year to support several local charitable and civic organizations.
